YWCA is set to host a special celebration in honor of Martin Luther King.
The celebration features a presentation by Janet Smith Dickerson, who earned Princeton University’s MLK Day Journey Award in 2010.
Dickerson plans to discuss her “commitment to serving as a mentor to and advocate for students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds” and how her life’s work has honored Dr. King’s legacy.
The event is scheduled for 12 to 2 p.m. Jan. 17 at YWCA Princeton’s Bramwell Living Room, 59 Paul Robeson Place.
Additionally, YWCA is set to host a screening of Nelson Mandela: Life & Times 7 p.m. Feb. 7. In the film, Mandela talks of his love of children, how apartheid affected him, facing the death sentence, how he survived prison, won over his enemies and overcame prejudice.
