Mercer County Community College jazz band and chorus are set to present two free concerts

MCCC’s chorus is scheduled to present its spring concert 7:30 p.m. May 6. The jazz band is set to perform 8 p.m. May 7. Both performances are set to take place in Kelsey Theatre on MCCC’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

The chorus, directed by Timothy Smith, will present a program entitled Rise Up My Love, which includes a variety of works by composers Thomas Weelkes, Gabriel Fauré, Johannes Brahms and John Rutter.

The jazz band’s performance, directed by professor James Kelly, includes selections featuring Latin, swing, and bebop classics by John Coltrane, Antonio Horace Jobim, and Kenny Dorham. All selections will feature standout improvisations by jazz students, who will be performing in small groups, as well as in the full band.

Both concerts are open to the public.
