Ballet Central New Jersey finishes its first year with a performance of Etudes, Carmen, and Les Sylphides, on Saturday, May 30, at 2 p.m., at Princeton Montessori School, 487 Cherry Valley Road, in Princeton. Dancers from West Windsor and Plainsboro include Iris Foster, 15, a student at High School North; Joe Foster, 18, a senior at High School North; Karli Khanna-Reichert, 13, a student at Community Middle School; Haley Tran, 9, a student at Dutch Neck Elementary School; Utku Ozdemir, 15, a student at High School North; and Umay Sen, 5. Tickets are $15.

“At BalletCNJ, the teachers are caring and encouraging and the classes are made enjoyable while still being very informative,” says Alexander Dutko, the artistic director of Ballet CNJ. “It is our goal at BalletCNJ to insure that every student develops a strong self-confidence and a solid understanding of classical ballet technique.

Karli Khanna-Reichert’s hobbies include playing the piano and film making. She has been dancing for two years. “One year ago, I never would have thought I would be dancing like this,” she says.

Haley Tran’s hobbies include soccer and swimming. She has been dancing for five years. “The performance is very pretty,” she says. “Even though we work really hard in rehearsals, it’s worth it and fun!”

Iris Foster enjoys drawing and art and has been dancing for 12 years. “Participating in this performance is fulfilling and allows me to build on my artistry,” she says. “It is a great challenge while still fun.”

The school will also hold a car wash and bake sale on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 4 Tennis Court, in Hamilton.

“The performance is a great opportunity for our students to challenge themselves and gain valuable stage experience,” says Dutko. “As BalletCNJ is coming to the end of its inaugural year, we are confident that in the future our students will designate themselves not only as talented dancers but also unforgettable artists.”
