High School North is decorated with posters and mobiles created by students studying the relationship of mathematical tools with the exploration of space. The colorful banner in the hallway, created by Ali Cheser and Elyza Brillantes, was inspired by M.C. Escher’s work.

The top three winners in each category received Barnes & Noble gift cards. The poster contest winners include:

First place, “Eratosthenes and the Circumference of the Earth,” Rachel Brick and Saniya Merchant; second place, “Trigonometry of the NY Harbor,” Avantika Khullar and Stephanie Au-Yeung; and third Place, “Your Calculator,” Sam Botwin and Ann Yi.

Mobile contest winners include:

First place, “The Physics of Dance,” Katherine Meduski; second place, “Pyramids,” Sophia Lee and Jenny Liang; and third place,”Mathematics in Everyday Things,” Elsa Stahura and Rashi Kabra.
