Lt. Keith Hillman, WW Officer, Dies

Keith Hillman, 40, of West Windsor died July 5 of leukemia at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. A member of the West Windsor police Department since 1989, he held positions of patrol officer, community policing officer, sergeant, and lieutenant. He was also the commander of the community policing unit, the traffic unit, the emergency tactical response team, the terrorism task force, the training unit, and the logistics unit.##M:[more]##

Born in Trenton, he lived in West Windsor for nine years. A graduate of Notre Dame High School, he received his associate’s degree from Mercer County College, and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Seton Hall University.

Hillman also served as president of PBA #271, Special Olympics volunteer, a law enforcement volunteer at the Salt Lake City Olympics, and a member of the Louisiana Emergency Assistance Deployment team during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Survivors include his wife Maura; and daughters, Cory, 15, Kelsey, 9, and Kylie, 3; his parents, Hank and Jo Ann Hillman of Hamilton Square; two brothers, Brant and Bryce Hillman, both of Hamilton Square; two nephews, Tyler and Tucker Moran; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Patricia Moran of Lawrenceville; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Moran of Annapolis, Maryland.

“Lt. Hillman was a highly cherished and well respected member of the West Windsor Township Police Department and the community,” says Police Chief Joseph Pica. “He will be remembered as an outgoing, friendly, ambitious, helpful, and energetic person who absolutely loved his family, friends, his law enforcement career, and the people of the community he served.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 11, at 10 a.m., at St. David the King Church, 1 New Village Road West, West Windsor. Calling hours will be held Monday, July 19, 5 to 9 p.m., at St. David the King Church.
