Although Brian Leung says he didn’t have any expectations when he traveled to San Diego December 8 for his first national cross country meet, the outcome was not disappointing.##M:[more]##

Leung took 15th place at the Foot Locker Cross Country National Finals with a time of 15:41, for All-America status.

His successful run ends his legendary season. Leung won county and section championships and then took first at the Meet of Champions a few weeks ago. That propelled him to the Foot Locker Northeast Regionals, where he placed third and earned the trip to Morley Field in Balboa Park for the nationals.

“This season means a lot to me,” Leung said. “I knew I was returning as number 3 (in rankings, before the season).” Still, winning the Meet of Champions was the highlight of the season for Leung. “I knew I could race with those top guys.”

For now, the Princeton-University bound runner says he’s going to take it easy for a bit to let his body recuperate and then start training for the winter track season.
