Kinnara Ensemble to perform with two Westminster community groups

The Kinnara Ensemble Two Westminster Conservatory community ensembles are set to collaborate with the Kinnara Ensemble, directed by J.D. Burnett, to perform Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem on June 7 at 8 p.m. in Princeton Meadow Church and Event Center. The Kinnara Ensemble was founded in 2008 and based it Princeton. It comprises 32 professional voices. The participating Westminster ensembles are the Westminster Community Orchestra, conducted by Ruth Ochs, and the Westminster Community Chorus, directed by Devin Mariman. They will be joined by soloists Rochelle Ellis and Scott Purcell. Soprano Rochelle Ellis is an adjunct professor of voice at Westminster Choir College and a voice instructor at Princeton University. Scott Purcell recently completed his second season as a Young Artist with the Bel Canto program at the Caramoor International Music Festival. He has a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from Westminster Choir College. The Kinnara Ensemble is also set to present William Hawley’s Not One Sparrow Forgotten, an excerpt from Zdenĕk Lukáš’ Requiem, Ticheli’s There Will Be Rest, and Dawson’s arrangement of the spiritual My Lord, What a Mourning.
