Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County is set to present a talk about substance misuse at its next Kosher Café East.

Margarita Leahy, a licensed clinical drug and alcohol counselor, is set to present It Could Happen To Anyone: Avoiding the Unintentional Pitfalls of Medication and Alcohol Misuse.

This program for older adults will address the do’s and don’ts of taking medications as well as the myths and realities of alcohol, medications and mental health issues. It will also cover what puts someone at risk and what can be done to prevent a problem.

This program is sponsored by JFCS in collaboration with the Mercer County Department of Human Services, Addiction Services.

The Kosher Café program provides a hot, family-style kosher lunch to older adults and presents an informational speaker each month. Meals are prepared by the Natalie and Robert Marcus Greenwood House Home for the Jewish Aged under the supervision of Rabbi Isaac Leizerowski.

The event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. May 14 at Beth El Synagogue, 50 Maple Stream Road, East Windsor.

The program is open to all and there is a suggested donation of $5 per person.

Pre-registration is required. To register contact Beth Englezos at bethe@jfcsonline.org or (609) 987-8100, extension 126.
