Eighteen months after a fire forced the Crisis Ministry to relocate, Janssen Pharmaceuticals employees helped the organization prepare to move again.
The Crisis Ministry expects to move back to their 123 East Hanover Street location at the end of the summer. The building closed for renovations after a fire in December 2011.
Janssen volunteers also spruced up the organization’s downtown Trenton gardens, stocked shelves and assisted shoppers in its Client Choice pantry
Additionally, the philanthropic branch of Janssen Pharmaceuticals awarded the Crisis Ministry a 2012-13 general operating grant of $15,000 to address food insecurity and housing instability among low-income families and individuals in Mercer County.
The Crisis Ministry of Mercer County, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was founded in 1980 by Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Church Princeton to respond to economic challenges brought on by the deep recession of the time.
More than 30 years later, the community organization operates from three locations to ensure basic needs and promote the long-term stability of some 5,000 Mercer County households each year.
