The potential for the building of new housing developments in West Windsor has been a hot topic lately, as developers such as Howard Hughes and Toll Brothers have begun moving forward with potentially large new housing development plans, and construction of units at Princeton Terrace continues (The News, February 15).

But not all of the potential sites are poised for immediate development. For instance, Steven Goldin, CEO of InterCap Holdings, the owner of 25 acres of property designated to be the long-awaited Transit Village, has told reporters that due to the economy there is inadequate financing for the condominium market, and he does not know when he will be breaking ground on the property. Township community development director Pat Ward estimated that construction would not begin until at least 2015.

In addition, the building of housing units above the existing retail stores at the Ellsworth Center is not imminent, either. “To date, there have been no applications to build residential units at the Ellsworth Center, although the site is currently zoned to allow the construction of residential units over retail space,” said Ward. Several phone calls to owner Shawn Ellsworth were not returned.
