University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro received a donation of 62 handmade blankets and quilts and 200 knitted and crocheted preemie and pediatric caps from Bob’s Blankie Brigade, a Princeton-based non-profit organization dedicated to serving people who are seriously ill or in need.

Greg Carter, director of Annual Giving at Princeton HealthCare System Foundation, says the hospital will distribute them to patients in UMCPP’s Cancer Center, the Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Community Health Center.

“Our volunteers continue to be very busy knitting, crocheting, and sewing beautiful hats, blankets, and quilts for a wonderful cause,” he says.

In a statement Helaine Lobman, president of Bob’s Blankie Brigade said the company’s goal for 2012 is to distribute 500 blankets and 500 caps to charitable causes in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Florida, and California. Bob’s Blankie Brigade was established in 2008 to provide a warm and loving touch to children and adults in need.

At the Monday, July 16, meeting of the Plainsboro Planning Board the hospital has an application for preliminary and final subdivision and site plan approval. A new sign marking the Atkinson Pavilion on the hospital bed tower (1 Plainsboro Road) is proposed.
