Explorations Senior Learning expanding
Explorations, an all-volunteer organization offering daytime learning experiences in the fall and the spring for seniors from the Hopewell Valley and nearby communities, is in its 10th year. Explorations needs to grow to meet demand, and that means we need more teachers. And that’s where we need your help.
Have you taught a course or wish to teach a course for truly interested seniors? Or maybe you know someone else who would like to do that? All suggested topics, and we truly mean that, will be seriously considered.
The semester begins on Oct. 8 and runs for six weeks finishing before Thanksgiving. Each class runs for two hours.
Courses are held in the Pennington Presbyterian Church. Explorations is underwritten by the Hopewell Valley Senior Foundation and sponsored by Hopewell Valley Senior Services.

Planning board not infallible
In a recent letter to the editor, Planning Board appointee Courtney Peters-Manning defends the seemingly uniquely unqualified, newly-appointed Zoning Board appointee Andrew Borders and her fellow Planning Board members as imbued with infallibility because, she writes, “they ensure that growth happens in the smartest and most environmentally friendly way possible,” regardless of public opinion or facts to the contrary.
She forgets that fellow Planning Board member Larry Clarke repeatedly has voted against rubber-stamping the Kuchinsky-Blake affordable housing plan, which violated our master plan.
Peters-Manning’s statement reveals the mindset of the small group of Democrats who are currently running Hopewell Township, and seems based on the apparent party line that the Kuchinski-Blake administration has all the answers when they obviously do not, and that the public is an impediment to the process.
Peters-Manning should be acting on her environmental credentials, instead of just reciting them.
