TerraCycle executive Jon Beyer presented a plaque to West Windsor Home Depot on December 6 to show their commitment to reducing their eco-logical footprint. Employees accepting the award include John Bryant, George Walling, Briar Haar, Jim Clouer, Josh Nikolai, and team leader Faye Clark. Clark and Clouer are West Windsor residents.

The award pays homage to Home Depot’s help collecting old soda bottles in TerraCycle’s Eco-Pallet Program in which TerraCycle uses the old soda bottles to package their all-natural plant foods, which are sold in Home Depot.##M:[more]##

“Home Depot’s willingness to participate in such an eco-friendly program is monumental for big-box retailers and could lead to similar programs being conducted nationwide,” said Beyer. “TerraCycle and Zerofootprint created the Eco-Pallet Program so that Home Depot could be involved in TerraCycle’s continued efforts to reduce the amount of soda bottles wasted everyday in America, which is currently a startling 30 million per day.”

TerraCycle Plant Food, the first consumer product made and packaged entirely from trash, uses worm poop to make all-natural, effective plant foods, and packages them in discarded soda bottles. Whenever possible, the company uses discarded materials, including surplus spray heads and misprinted shipping boxes.
