Joseph Spindel of West Windsor was elected to the Pythian Hall of Fame by the Knights of Pythias of New Jersey at its recent convention. The award, introduced in 1975, is to recognize outstanding fraternal, charitable, or civic deeds.

He retired in 1998 after 34 years with Con Edison as an electrical engineer and systems manager. Spindel is past president of the New York Chapter of the I.E.E.E. Power Engineering Society. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of working as a train operator with New York City Transit Authority after retiring.

He and his wife Margie moved from Marlboro to West Windsor in 2002. They have two children and four grandchildren.
