Six years of training finally paid off for 12 year-old Summer Abiad, an honors sixth grade student at Grover Middle School. She won the 2007 USA Gymnastics Level 5 New Jersey State Championship. Summer and her teammates train with Coach Art Pelzer at the Cranbury Gymnastics Academy.
Summer began training in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2001. ##M:[more]## Since the family moved to New Jersey in 2003, she has been training year-round with Cranbury Gymnastics at least four times a week. She started competing two years ago and has won at several meets.
She also takes piano lessons at Westminster Conservatory.
