West Windsor has received two grants from the state Department of Transportation’s Transportation Trust Fund for $245,”000 to implement bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements in the Dutch Neck area as well as reconstruction of Wallace Road near the train station.##M:[more]##

The work at Dutch Neck is estimated to cost $100,”000, with $95,”000 coming from the state through the grants, and $5,”000 put into the project from West Windsor. With regard to the reconstruction of Wallace Road, estimated to cost a total $200,”000, the state will pay $150,”000 into the project, with the township contributing $50,”000.

In other business during the April 20 meeting, the council approved a professional services agreement with ACT Engineers not to exceed $33,”500 for the first phase of the Heatherfield sanitary sewers project. It also approved a second professional services agreement with the firm for the second phase of the project for a cost not to exceed $56,”500. Attorney Michael Herbert said the residents of the residential development would be bearing the burden of the costs themselves, but that the township is facilitating the process.

The council also amended professional services agreements with Maser Consulting — Planner John Madden’s firm — and with the Miller, Porter, Muller, and Gaynor law firm — Planning Board Attorney Gerry Muller’s firm.
