The Golandsky InstituteInternational Piano Festival is set to start its tenth anniversary concert season at Princeton University July 14
The institute will present a series of six recitals from July 14 through 20 featuring internationally acclaimed pianists from Russia, China, Ukraine, Panama and the U.S.
The season kicks-off with Rachel Cheung of Hong Kong 8 p.m. July 14 at McCarter Theatre Center’s Berlind Theatre. The 13-year-old pianist is set to play works by Bach, Chopin, Debussy, Stefan Wirth and Schumann.
Two-time International Bach Competition winner Father Sean Duggan is set to play 8 p.m. July 15 at Berlind Theatre.
American violinist Miranda Cuckson is set to join Ukranian pianist Yegor Shevtsov on stage 8 p.m. July 16 at Berlind Theatre. Their program, titled Sonatas, spans more than 300 years of music.
Russian pianists Pavel Nersessian and Ilya Itin are set to play 8 p.m. July 18 at Berlind Theatre. Their program features Pletnev’s transcription of Prokofiev’s “Cinderella Suite” for two pianos
Itin is set to play a solo performance 8 p.m. July 19 at Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall. Last year, The New York Times said Itin was “A brilliantly insightful pianist who offered a superb recital.”
The festival ends with the Global Jazz Institute from the Berklee College of Music 8 p.m. July 20 at Richardson Auditorium. Guest artist Marco Pignataro is set to join the group on saxophone.
The International Piano Festival is part of The Golandsky Institute’s Summer Symposium.
More than 140 participants from around the world gather to attend the annual symposium at Princeton University featuring master Taubman teachers giving lectures, master classes, technique clinics, and presentations. This year’s symposium is scheduled for July 13 to 21.
