The AMIGOS,

Students at CMS, with the assistance of teachers Patrick Lepore and Cherine Zaki, and assistant principal Kyle Schimpf, started the “gift of sight” initiative by collecting used eyeglasses.

As part of the project, students visited an eyeglass recycling center to learn how used glasses are sorted, stored, cleaned, and distributed. In addition, the students had a mini-lesson from an optometrist about refraction and eye glass prescriptions.

The CMS students are continuing the project with collection boxes for used eyeglasses at the school and in the West Windsor Public Library.
