David Yin of West Windsor competed as a semifinalist in the New Jersey Geographic Bee. Yin, 12, a seventh grade student at Grover Middle School competed on Friday, April 3, at St. Francis de Sales Parish Life Center in Vernon. He qualified after becoming the school’s winner and taking a qualifying exam.##M:[more]##

“David was in the top 10,” says Ellen Kolonoski, New Jersey State Bee coordinator. “He did have a perfect 8 for the preliminary round and survived through the tiebreaker round where 17 boys vied for the 10 spots.” Yin is the son of Shawn Yin and Helen Liu.
