WW-P North graduate Joe Jensen is the picture of athletic versatility at Hamilton College in New York. Coming off a successful football season in which he moved from quarterback to wide receiver, he decided to try out winter track to stay in shape for the upcoming baseball season. Jensen had never run before, but some teammates and the Hamilton track coach helped sway his decision.

Jensen’s choice ended up being the right one. He currently owns the fastest 200-meter and 400-meter times in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference, as well as the 10th-fastest 60-meter time. His 200- and 400-meter times at the NYSCTC Indoor Championships on February 22 qualified him for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Indoor Championships, held on March 1 and 2.

Jensen was named to the All-NYSCTC conference team, as well as receiving NYSCTC Rookie of the Year honors. If he manages to drop his 400-meter time by a fraction of a second, he will earn the chance to represent Hamilton at the 2013 NCAA Championships. In addition, he is .05 and .01 seconds shy of school records in the 200- and 400-meter races, respectively.

A three-sport varsity athlete, Jensen was second-team All-Conference as a wide receiver on the football team in the fall. As the baseball season approaches, he has his sights set on a third all-conference honor.
