Harold Jones, 79, of West Windsor flew aboard an American B-17 bomber from Orange County, New York, to Trenton-Mercer Airport during the annual Wings of Freedom Tour held this summer. A tail gunner with the U.S. Army during World War II, his job was to drop bombs over Germany during 25 missions in early 1945.

As he told reporters covering the event: “It was nice flying over shopping centers rather than bombed-out cities.”
