First Lego League Advances to State Championship

The Lego Robotics team Warrior Robots, comprising students from Village and Grover middle schools, participated in the First Lego League qualifier event held at the University of Pennsylvania on January 18. The competition’s four categories include a project that benefits the community, a demonstration of core values (good sportsmanship, communication, and collaboration), design and programming skill for the robot, and a robot game. As part of the game, each team programs a robot complete pre-determined missions on an obstacle course with 2.5 minutes.

Team Warrior Robots won first place in the robot design component as well as robot performance for the highest score in the robot game. The team was awarded trophies for each of the wins and now moves to the state championship competition.

Team members include Anant Matta, Lilly Zullow, Ved Karamsetty, Elizabeth March, Hannah Rajarao, Nicholas Taylor, Sasha Olcsvary, and Alek Mishra.

Coaches are Kathleen Moriarty, Sharon Rajarao, and Joe Rajarao.
