As officials have been reorganizing the district’s supervisory structure, the school board has approved current Dutch Neck Elementary School Principal Scott Feder as the district’s new supervisor of elementary education. He will work with principals, teachers, and staff in planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of the elementary curriculum/instructional programs.##M:[more]##

According to Steven Mayer, the assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, a recent retirement has allowed the district to consolidate two administrative positions into one, meaning that the number of district administrators will not increase. Mayer says Feder will be working closely with the six elementary school principals to help the district with consistency and best practices.

He said Feder’s appointment will also “open the possibility to tap additional teacher leaders.”

“In his new role, Mr. Feder will help to define and implement elementary best practices and continuous improvement strategies with high expectations for student performance including the areas of Reading Recovery, ESL/Bilingual, Special Education, Exceptionality, and Basic Skills,” stated a press release from the school district. “His work will articulate consistent expectations and practice throughout the K-5 program.”

Feder will remain in his current position until a new principal is hired. Feder’s salary will be $121,”289.
