Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, based in West Windsor, presents its first family concert on Sunday, February 24, at 7 p.m. at the Princeton Alliance Church, 20 Schalks Crossing Road, Plainsboro. ##M:[more]##

Michael Cao, 16, a sophmore at High School South, is narrating Britten’s “Young Person’s Guide to Orchestra.” A piano player for six years, he is a member of High School South’s concert choir. His other favorite hobbies include playing chess, video games, and reading fantasy novels.

Members of the orchestra who live in the West Windsor-Plainsboro area include Philip Pugh, Penny Luan, and Dave Halter. The organization’s officers and board members from West Windsor include Chiu-Ling Lin, president; Margaret Koo, president of the Distinguished Citizen Society International, a non-profit charity organization; Yang Yi, internationally renowned Chinese instrument performer; and Phoebe Lee, educational outreach. Plainsboro board members include Grace Hao, educational outreach; and Dave Halter, personnel and stage manager.

Betty Zhou, 17, the featured soloist, received the grand prize winner of the New Jersey Symphony Young Artist Competition in 2006. The orchestra will also perform a favorite classic of young people, Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” featuring characters represented by flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horns, trumpet, trombone, timpani, triangle, tambourine, cymbals, castanets, snare drum, bass drum, and strings.
