East Windsor resident selected for Governor’s School

A Mercer County Technical School student was accepted into the New Jersey Governor’s School in the Sciences.

The Governor’s School in the Sciences aim is to craft a student body made up of New Jersey’s most talented and enthusiastic students. It is part of Drew University in Madison.

Piyush Puri, of East Windsor, was selected based on high school transcripts, class rank, extracurricular activities and standardized test scores. The selection committee also reviewed his academic accomplishments.

His accomplishments include executive student council president, captain of the debate team, varsity tennis player at Hightstown High School and Health Science Academy Advisory board member.

Puri participated in an internship at Temple University’s School of Medicine last summer.

Additionally, Puri was named Southern Regional vice president and New Jersey’s state president of the Health Occupation Students of America.

Puri attends Mercer County Technical Schools’ Health Science Academy, which is based in the Assunpink Center in Trenton.
