Middlesex County recently doubled its grant to the Township of Plainsboro for improvements to Community Park. Last year, the county authorized a $500,”000 gift to use toward phase one improvements, and last month announced it would give the township another $500,000.

Township Administrator Robert Sheehan said the funds will go towards improving two areas of the park, located off Scott’s Corner Road. “The next priority is to light some of the ballfields at the park. We also hope to begin a phase development of a family picnic grounds.”

The park has been developed with a master plan. Sheehan describes the process as an “evolution,” saying the township has tried to use a minimum of tax dollars to improve Community Park. “We’re big on other sources. We take advantage of opportunities to build certain amenities. Other communities go through the same pressure to develop recreation areas, and funding for these projects is a scarce resource.”
