Hannah Lohr-Pearson of Plainsboro is one of the winners in the annual composition contest at the New School for Music Study. She will perform at the 45th annual Spring Recital Series featuring winners of the annual composition contest. The concert is Friday and Saturday, May 13 and 14.

Hannah, 9, is a fourth grade student at Millstone River School. She began studying piano with the Suzuki method at age four and has been a student at the New School since she was six. Her piano teacher is Margie Nelson. Hannah also plays cello in the school orchestra and studies at Westminster. She practices jazz dancing at Dance Corner in Plainsboro.

Her mother, Joanne Tyne, is a musicologist and has taught music history in universities. Her father, Thomas Pearson, writes tests including the GRE, for Educational Testing Services. The family moved from Iowa City to Plainsboro in 1997. Her brother Adam, 5, also plays piano and cello. He is in kindergarten at Wicoff School.
