Spearheading the efforts were Radhika Gharpure, Doreen Ho, and Rajiv Ramakrishnan, officers of the Princeton chapter and seniors at High School North.

They collected clothing at both West Windsor and Plainsboro libraries and collected money at Superfresh in Plainsboro.

“We were not only impressed with the quantity of clothing donated, but the quality as well,” says Gharpure. “It will help to make a great difference in another part of the world.”

Adults working on the project included Myriam Radia, Anjani Gharpure, Vinaya Phadke, and Cathy Savage. Student volunteers included Amit Amin, Serra Skyar, Eda Akyar, Deepti Mutnuru, Sanjay Jumani, Aileen Yan, Jonathan Malankar, and Anant Gharpure.

People to People International is a non-profit, cultural and education exchange organization founded in 1956 by Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Greater Princeton chapter was founded in 2002. Past projects have included a shoe drive and a soap drive for Haiti, a landmine-awareness dinner, cultural assemblies at Wicoff School, and a videoconference with another PTPI chapter in Cairo, Egypt.
