Two middle school students have organized Samara Rocks, a benefit concert for the daughter of Darrah Sheller, a language arts teacher at High School South. The concert will be Saturday, January 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at High School South. Both boys have connections to Samara, a six-year-old with an aggressive childhood cancer. Grover Middle School’s Student Council is teaming up with the two boys to organize the production. All proceeds will help the family with medical expenses. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door.

Eli Bramnick, a seventh grade student at Grover Middle School and a West Windsor resident, and Jared Glassband, a seventh grade student at Pond Road Middle School in Robbinsville, are both members of Princeton School of Rock Z-Team Band and will perform at the event. Bramnick and Glassband, both 12, are also classmates in the bar mitzvah class at Congregation Beth Chaim’s Hebrew School. The benefit concert is their “Mitzvah” project.

Jared’s mother, Ellin Glassband, also teaches language arts at South. The Glassband and Sheller families are also close friends outside of school. Darrah Sheller, who has been on leave since April, taught Eli’s sister. The concert, originally scheduled for November 3, was postponed due to superstorm Sandy.

Samara Rocks, West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South, 346 Clarksville Road, West Windsor. Saturday, January 12, 7 to 9 p.m. $10. 609-716-5050.
