Actor Ethan Hawke, who was raised in West Windsor, sent a letter to New Jersey’s acting governor Richard J. Codey, asking him to grant clemency to Melvina McClain, 65, who has been in prison for more than 16 years for murdering her boyfriend, Detective Louis Glenn, in 1986. The petition claims McClain suffered a long history of abuse. McClain, a resident at a Clinton correctional facility, was visited by Hawke recently. His mother, Leslie, is a penpal of McClain.
