Centex Bonds Released

The Plainsboro Township Committee voted March 25 to release a performance bond to Centex Homes for work at the Windmere Grove residential development that was denied in December.##M:[more]##

The vote came after two prior requests from Centex. During an earlier meeting in March, Centex representatives approached the committee, saying that there had since been a township engineer’s report made, and an agreement from Centex Homes to post a nearly $33,”000 cash deposit for remaining work done on the site.

Because the engineer’s report was not issued until February 27, it missed the deadline to make it an agenda item for the March 11 meeting, but Centex wanted the bond to be released by the end of March because it is wrapping up its budget for the year. During the March 11 meeting, representatives asked the committee to release the bond at the March 25 meeting. The committee voted to release the bond after township officials said they had reviewed the matter and were recommending that it be released.

In December, the committee released the performance bonds and accepted maintenance bonds for two sections of work at the Estates at Plainsboro, as well as the streets associated with that area of development. However, the committee denied the release of the performance bond at Windmere Grover at Plainsboro (Wicoff Estates) — the development of 55 single-family homes off Wyndhurst Drive — after having time to review the concerns from the homeowners association about the work on site.
