Plainsboro residents Brandi Scollins-Mantha and her daughter, Megan Mantha, both took second prize in their divisions for the 2007 NFAA Mid-Atlantic Sectional Archery Tournament on March 3 and 4.##M:[more]##

Both new to archery, they take classes at X-Ring Archery School in Lambertville, and are members at the Wa-Xo-Be Archery Club in South Brunswick. Archery, a sport where archers, using a bow and arrow, shoot at targets for points. Archers can use compound bows, traditionally used for hunting, or recurve bows, usually used in the Olympics.

Brandi, who shoots in the adult women division with a freestyler curve bow, is the author of “My Intended” and “Floaters,” now available as a BLAST PRESS iUniverse paperback. Several of her literary short stories appeared in the Literary Review, Folio, and Pleiades.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Florida, a master’s in creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College, and is pursuing a master of education in adult and distance education through Pennsylvania State University. She teaches all forms of writing online for Thomas Edison State College, Mercer County Community College, and Southern New Hampshire University.

Megan, 7, shoots in the female cub division with a freestyle recurve bow. She is homeschooled as part of the Westerly Learning Center in Princeton, a homeschool enrichment group.
