Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, based in West Windsor, presents a family concert at Princeton Alliance Church in Plainsboro on Sunday, March 8, at 7 p.m. “Melding of the East and West,” will feature Yang Yi, right, a Chinese Guzheng master and a West Windsor resident. Yang will present the U. S. premiere performance of the “Regretted Separation,” written by Zhan Hao for the guzheng, a chorus, and a western symphony orchestra.

Yi, who has earned many awards and competitions, was a faculty member at the China Conservatory of music, where she graduated. As a soloist Yi has toured extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and the U.S., and performed in the Royal Albert Hall (UK), Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal (Germany), Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. She is the founder and the music director at Eastern Culture & Performing Arts Center (ECPAC), based in West Windsor.

Other highlights of the program include Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. All of the symphony instruments are represented in this piece, and the audience will be given a brief tutorial of some of the instruments in an orchestra.
