Boy Scouts of America Mercer Area district awarded Princeton resident Adrienne Rubin the Award of Merit.

The Award of Merit is the highest award a district can bestow on an adult leader.

Rubin has served as a cub scout and boy scout volunteer in Princeton since 2007, when her son Elian began as a Tiger Cub in first Grade.

While a cub scout volunteer, she served as a den leader and the committee chair for Pack 43, as well as the popcorn fundraising coordinator.

Once her son crossed over to Princeton Troop 43, Rubin stepped up to become an assistant scoutmaster, taking on the roles of pack liaison, den chief adviser and new scout adviser, while remaining as the popcorn fundraising coordinator for both the pack and the troop.

Rubin also volunteers to support boys across the Mercer Area District. She is an active merit badge counselor and helps boys earn Jewish religious awards through the local Jewish Committee on Scouting. She helps train new adult leaders and boy scouts who volunteer to work with elementary school boys in Cub Scout Packs.

In addition to volunteering at Cub Scout Summer Camp, Rubin makes presentations to parents in local packs and troops on the importance of financially supporting scouting. She was recently appointed the chair of the popcorn fundraising program for all of Mercer, Hunterdon and Bucks counties.

The former executive director of the Princeton Education Foundation, Rubin is now the Director of OnePrinceton, the payment network piloted by Heartland Payment Systems to support Princeton-area merchants and nonprofits. She is also the Cantor at Temple Micah in Lawrenceville.
