The West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance is sponsoring its seventh annual West Windsor BikeFest on Saturday, May 29, to kick off the summer.

The event, dubbed as “Whirr of the Wheels” this year, features various rides, ranging from 1.5 to 40 miles in length beginning at the township’s Community Park, as well as a bike safety rodeo for children. The event also features a post-ride party featuring lunch, DJ entertainment, a moon bounce, and a giant slide.

Upon registration, attendees will be able to obtain route markings, cue sheets, and maps, along with food and water at various stops along the ride. Halter’s Cycles will be at the event with tech support, providing free tune-up services, including pumping up tires and changing bolts.

To register, log on to www.westwindsorbikefest.com, or head to West Windsor Community Park on May 29.

In addition to BikeFest, the WWBPA is also organizing a bike drive for the Boys and Girls Club Bike Exchange on Saturday, June 12, at the West Windsor Farmers’ Market at the Princeton Junction train station.

The bike exchange, which will be held at the train station from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., raises funds to support the Boys and Girls Club of Trenton by selling the bikes donated during various bike drives in the area. Residents can bring their bicycles from the garage and donate them during the event. Receipts for tax deductions will be provided.

Since its inception in May, 2009, the Boys and Girls Club Bike Exchange has resold more than 1,000 bicycles. In 2009, the effort raised more than $43,000 for Boys and Girls Club programing. For more information on the bike exchange, visit www.bikeexchangenj.org.
