Lauren Mandel of West Windsor is studying at Interlochen Arts Academy, a fine arts boarding high school in Interlochen, Michigan. She previously attended High School North, where she was a contributor to the school literary magazine, a member of the debating team, Model Congress, and the freshman field hockey team. Mandel, an active Girl Scout for more than 10 years, received both the bronze and silver awards and is currently working on her Gold Award project.##M:[more]##

A writer and poet since fourth grade, Mandel frequently presents her poetry at the West Windsor Arts Council poetry readings. In 2006 she presented her poem, “Snow in September,” at the West Windsor September 11 Memorial Service.

The daughter of Andrea and Richard Mandel of West Windsor, Mandel is studying creative writing at the academy.
