Arts Council of Princeton is set to present a Pi Day concert featuring Outer Bridge Ensemble called Time Is Relative.

In celebration of Pi Day, a highlight of the program is the performance of material involving alternating meters, polyrhythms, and the manipulation of time dedicated to Albert Einstein.

Outer Bridge Ensemble is a high energy group with an original sound based in jazz, Afro-beat, Afro-Cuban rhythm and funk. This summer, their concert at Grounds for Sculpture sold out, and their latest CD, Determined, has been receiving widespread radio airplay from coast to coast, including NPR’s Morning Edition.

Outer Bridge Ensemble include Mark Dejong on saxophones, James Zollar on trumpet, Steve Hudson on organ, rhodes and piano, Jerome Jennings on drums, David Freeman on percussion, and Soren Nissen on bass.

The ensemble is set to conduct a free workshop geared to musicians and students of jazz 6:30 to 7:30pm March 14. This workshop is open to the public, and all are invited to attend and bring their instruments. To register for the workshop, email dhaggerty@artscouncilofprinceton.org.

The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. March 14 at Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, 102 Witherspoon St., Princeton.

Tickets are $10 for the general public and $8 for ACP members, students, and seniors.
