The Arts Council of Princeton is set to hold its Free Fall Open House 12 to 3 p.m. Sept. 14.
The open house is an opportunity to learn about upcoming programs, events, membership, volunteer opportunities, and to meet ACP’s instructors.
The public is invited to tour the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts and enjoy ice cream and Bai Brands products. There will also be artist talks and demonstrations for children and adults, a Flamenco Dance Public Forum, and a live outdoor mural painting by the S.A.G.E. Coalition.
Beginning at noon, Will “Kasso” Condry and James “Luv 1” Kelewae of Trenton’s S.A.G.E. (Stylez Advancing Graffiti’s Evolution) Coalition will paint a mural spanning two small brick walls behind the ACP’s Paul Robeson Center. The mural will be inspired by the Underground Railroad, which had a “station” in the Witherspoon-Jackson neighborhood in Princeton. The project was conceived by local curator, writer, teacher and photographer Ricardo Barros.
From 2 to 3 p.m. in the ACP’s Dance Studio, Fall 2014 Artist-in-Residence Lisa Botalico is set to lead a public forum called “Why We Dance Flamenco: Intergenerational Dance Dialogues.” She will be joined by dancers from diverse backgrounds and ages who will verbally discuss their Flamenco pursuit and visually demonstrate their personal connection to it with solo dance performances, accompanied by a live Flamenco guitarist and singer.
