Art to Washington

Christin Seldon, a senior at High School South, was the grand prize winner in the Annual Congressional Art Competition. Her untitled oil painting, 23 by 28.5 inches, will travel to Washington, D.C., where it will be displayed in the corridors of the U.S. Capitol along with the winning artworks from each congressional district in the country. Seldon will also be invited to Washington along with all of the congressional art winners.

Students from High Schools North and South entered art in Congressman Rush Holt’s annual art competition. A reception was held at the Montgomery Center for the Arts on May 6.

Other participants from High School South included Selin Atay, Katie Boucher, Lena Garcia Briones, Samantha Castrale, Spencer Galen, Adreienne Hisbrook, Stephanie Loh, Christina Sibley, Susan Yue, and Catherine Zhou.

Participants from High School North included Alexandra Cheser, Amanda Gaspari, Rebecca Lee, Rebecca Pierson, Kate Sandberg, Elizabeth Tang, Shannon Van Dyke, William Watkins, and Miranda Wendorf.

Winners included Watkins, second place collage; Cheser, third place collage; Wu, second place drawing; Yue, honorary drawing; Tang, first place mixed media; Castrale, first place photo; Hisbrook, third place photo; Lee, first place print; and Sibley, third place print.
