Gail Mitchell of West Windsor read original poetry and showed some of her quilts at the Morrisville Library in Pennsylvania on August 5. Mitchell teaches English as a second language for fourth and fifth graders by incorporating diversity and intercultural customs and celebrations for all the students. One way she does this is by working with the students to create quilts representing their own ethnic group.

Mitchell, a teacher at Millstone River School, had her first book published, “Learning English the Cultural Way,” and has had several poems printed in U.S. 1 Newspaper’s annual Summer Fiction issue.
