In the first week of July five vans of adults and high school students from Princeton United Methodist Church, including Plainsboro residents Jim Looney, Connor Langdon, and Gus Macdonald, along with West Windsor resident Matt Kenney, worked in Avery County, North Carolina, for the Appalachia Service Project (ASP). The project’s aim is to make homes warmer, safer, and dryer for families in need. Preparation was an eight-month process that included fundraisers, knowledge of Appalachian culture, basic construction skills, and the meaning of service to others.
