The first female across the finish line in this year’s Diana Run 5K was Caroline Kellner, one of the youngest in the field. The 12-year-old Community Middle School student has been running since she was in fourth grade, and hasn’t let age slow her down yet.##M:[more]##

Caroline says at least one older runner is faster than she is, and that’s her sister, Katie. The older Kellner has been made waves throughout the county as a freshman runner for South’s cross country and track teams. Katie took this race off as part of a two-week, self-imposed break between seasons. The two rarely run together, says Caroline. “She doesn’t like to run with me, because she’s a lot faster than I am.”

But the two may face off in the ETS Firecracker 5K, scheduled for Tuesday, June 27.
