A West Windsor Teen Discovers the Bard:July 9, 2004

Meghan Schmidt, 16, a rising junior at High School South, plays the role of Rosalind in Princeton Rep Shakespeare Festival student performance of scenes from William Shakespeare’s “”As You Like It,”” on Saturday, July 10, at 6 p.m. at Pettoranello Gardens Amphitheater in Princeton. The fourth season of the program, which took place at Lawrenceville School, featured a two-week program including text interpretation, character study, monologues, improvisation, clowning, masks, stage combat, and movement. This summer’s faculty includes Susan Garrett, a professional actress. Master teachers were Susan Tenney, Princeton Ballet School instructor; Matthew Morgan, a graduate of Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Clown College; Chris Cull, a professional actor and director; and Lisa Jackson, a professional voice instructor from New York City.

Schmidt, who has lived in West Windsor for close to 11 years, has been performing on stage for several years. In school, she has been in “”Footloose,”” “”Our Town,”” and “”Damn Yankees.”” She is also involved with Pirate Players in productions of “”Bang Bang You’re Dead”” and in the choir. Community theater performances include productions with Peddie Players, New Jersey Repertory Theater, and at Kelsey Theater.
