The I Am Trenton Community Foundation, a Trenton-based nonprofit focused on community engagement and community-focused giving, has announced two new online grant preparation classes to enhance the ability of grassroots organizations and activists to submit a successful grant application in the fall 2025 grant round. Both sessions are free and take place via Zoom.

Narrative Writing Workshop. An introductory workshop on narrative-building takes place Thursday, May 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thelma Carrera, IAT board member and co-chair of the grants committee, leads the session to help attendees learn to tell their organization’s story in a compelling way.

Lessons Learned Workshop. Hear about the most common errors or omissions made in the last IAT grand round and how to make sure you don’t make them in the future on Thursday, May 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This session is taught by Regina Podhorin Zilinski , 2024 Grants Committee Chair who read all 100 grants submitted in 2024 and has analyzed the scoring trends to identify the most common problem areas.

The I Am Trenton Community Foundation offers an annual round of city-wide grants as well as periodic neighborhood-specific and special grant opportunities. For more information or to register for one or both sessions, visit www.iamtrenton.org.
