Passage Theater Company will rename the Mill Hill Playhouse “The Larry Hilton Stage,” in honor of long-timegreat donor, patron, producer and friend of the company Lawrence M. Hilton.

Passage Theater remembers Hilton as “a beacon for the theater for nearly 40 years and a steward for all art, music, theater, and education in his hometown of Trenton.”

Milton died on July 2, 2025, at the age of 79.

The naming ceremony will take place with Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora in attendance on Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. at the Mill Hill Playhouse, 205 East Front Street in Trenton.

Admission to the event will be free, with donations in honor of Hilton’s legacy encouraged.

“Larry built our audience and championed Passage Theatre like few others,” said Passage’s Executive Artistic Director Brishen Miller. “This honor was planned before his unfortunate passing, and we were so glad to celebrate him last year at our 40th Anniversary gala. Larry, if you’re watching us now, Passage hopes to forever make you proud.”

The honor is commemorated with a 6-foot-by-5-foot mural painted by Trenton artist Dean Innocenzi. The mural will permanently be affixed to the Passage Theatre stage entrance.

The canvas was donated to the artist by Hilton’s longtime friend and collaborator, the late Mel Leipzig. Friends and supporters can contribute to the Larry Hilton Memorial fund to support Passage Theatre in his honor.
