Piano Teachers Forum to hold lecture recital by pianist Joseph Smith

The Piano Teachers Forum will hold its next monthly meeting on April 4 at 9:45 a.m. at Jacobs Music.

Pianist Joseph Smith will present a lecture recital titled, “Tundra to West Texas: Folk Influences on Classical Repertoire.”

This program samples a variety of piano pieces based on folk music from different countries.

Smith’s recordings include three on the Brioso label.

He has edited eleven anthologies of piano music, including Four Early 20th Century Piano Suites by Black Composers (G. Schirmer), Rare Finds (Steinway Library) and Mano Sinistra (International).

His articles have appeared in major piano magazines.
