Soprano Beverly Owens is set to present Sarah Vaughan: 90th Birthday Celebration in Song, a lecture/concert commemorating the anniversary of the birth of Newark native and legendary jazz singer Sarah Vaughan on March 27 at Princeton Public Library. During the course of a career that spanned nearly 50 years, Vaughan received accolades from fellow artists including Ella Fitzgerald who called her “the world’s greatest singing talent.” She is said to have influenced artists including Mel Torme, Anita Baker and others. Owens will share the story of Vaughan’s life and music during the tribute which will be held in the library’s Community Room at 3 p.m. The event is part of the library’s celebration of the 350th anniversary of the founding of New Jersey.
