The Princeton Charter School is set to open an art exhibition featuring the work of six local and student artists March 7.
The opening is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the school’s campus center, 100 Bunn Drive, Princeton.
The gallery curator chose the exhibiting artists for their unique styles and methods to emphasize to the students the importance of appreciating individuality and subjectivity.
Exhibiting artist Catherine Arnoux uses acrylics to reproduce colors found in nature in her abstract works.
Fellow artist Rita Stynes-Strow is of Irish decent. She uses traditional knot work to represent Celtic history.
For Mojgan Salehi, painting is a way to express her love of gardening and flowers.
Another abstract painter, Jannick Wildberg uses oil, plaster, fabric and pigments to create texture and evoke the elements of nature.
Heather Barros, who runs Art Collaborations at Princeton Academy, works with mixed media including charcoal, oil, ink and clay to create landscapes, portraits and still life.
Jean Becette, a former art teacher at Princeton Junior and Friends schools, paints seascapes using mixed media techniques such as charcoal, oil painting, or printmaking.
Barros and Becette collaborated with Princeton Charter School students on works that are also displayed in the gallery.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
