Jorunn Evju, above, of Plainsboro, a May graduate of Mercer County College, has received the 2008 Outstanding Student-Athlete Award from the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey. The award was announced during the organization’s annual conference in Somerset in October.##M:[more]##She was selected from among all female student athletes attending community college in New Jersey.

An international student from Norway, Evju is a dean’s list student who majored in education and played soccer for two years on the MCCC team, serving as captain during her sophomore year. She also was an active member of the International Student Organization.

“She is a well-rounded, positive and extremely personable individual — an excellent student, a dedicated athlete, and a volunteer tutor for students with special needs,” says MCCC athletic trainer Lisa Camillone, who worked closely with Evju while she recovered from a 2007 injury and nominated her for the CAANJ award.

Evju has transferred to Kean University, and is continuing her studies in elementary education.
