The former treasurer of the Lawrence Junior Cardinals youth football and cheerleading organization has been charged with misappropriation of entrusted property, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.

Veronica Bruno, 35, was charged following an investigation into reports that she allegedly used the Lawrence Junior Cardinals debit card to make personal purchases totaling $1,703.32, police said.

The Lawrence Township Police Department received a report in December 2025 that the treasurer had allegedly been using the non-profit group’s funds for personal purchases. The activity was discovered after an internal audit conducted by the Lawrence Junior Cardinals revealed multiple unauthorized transactions that were not related to the organization.

Following the investigation, Bruno was charged with misappropriation of entrusted property. She was arrested on March 12. She was released on a complaint summons, pending a future court date.
